Medieval World

I got this information from a viewer (Thanks Gary!) who brought it to my attention. It looks to be a rather lage scale project that hopes to be built in Colorado as part of, or as the main element of a Renaissance Festival. It's a huge project, containing a castle keep and a small Medieval village surrounding it. It seems to be along the same lines as the "Realms of Legend", except with a serious dash of sensibility thrown in. This one looks to have a serious shot at actually being built. While it isn't necessarily an "owner built castle", I'm sure plenty of folks here will find it interesting. Besst of luck to them, and if I can get any additional information from the builders/project dreamers, I'll post it here.

Castle Freedom

Castle Freedom appears to be a large castle in planning stages. Not too much specific information, just a general idea of what they'd like to have. The author links to a self improvement site, not sure if there is a commercial connection there.

Is this for real?

Realms of Legend.

The plan for this idea seems to be a small city and to have the largest castle and grounds in the United States. It certainly doesn't appear to be something that could be built by one or even a few people, and looks like it should require a large number of investors, lots and lots of money, and years to construct. Interesting idea, but the lack of updates to the site since the earlier parts of this year makes me wonder if the idea is no longer being pursued... I'll just have to categorize this one with the rest of the "wish castles" until something more substantial shows up on the site.

Darkling Castle: In Planning

Darkling castle is a"wish" castle found via the owner-builder forums. If one scrolls back to the beginning of the main post, you can see the originally planned castle. As time has gone by, due to budgetary reasons possibly, the plan has been really scaled back to a somewhat normal home that includes some narrow, Gothic arched windows.

Castle Duncan Forums

Castle Duncan an owner built castle that has been in progress for over a decade. The site has several interesting links just for fun, and a page showing the planning and future site of the castle itself. There is also a castle bulletin board attached to the site.

Castle De Couer is a "wish" castle site.

Another would-be castle builder's site wishing for a castle. Not much on the site; the usual donations link, the story behind the wish, and some dreams.
