Comansion Castle (remains) for sale

I first saw this castle on the Dupont Castle site.  I think I might have mentioned previously on the blog that it had caught fire in one of the California wildfires a couple of years back and was badly damaged.  Unfortunately it appears that the owner was unable or unwilling to put the castle back together, and the Comansion Castle lot and castle remains are up for sale.  (photo from realty agency site)

  1. Jeff, wasn't sure where to put this ... the BBC has an article about a midieval castle being built in France.. from scratch using only 'comtemporary' tools. Thought you might want to take a look. There's also a 3 min video .. of course, you need to see the advertisement first !

  2. Hi Ed,

I found that castle a while back while cruising the web, but I haven't looked at it in a while. The progress in the link you've sent is incredible!

In case you haven't found this castle yet, it's being built in the Ozarks by people related to the castle in Guedelon: http://dreamsofcastles.blogspot.com/2009/10/ozark-medieval-fortress.html

I'd love to see either of them; the one in France would be great, but I think the Ozark version is more accessible on our budget.

    Thanks for sharing the info.

    Jeff.

  4. Jeff,
Found this site that may interest you ... though, a first glance at the start is, well, take a look. The blogger shows a bunch of 'castles' and ruins of castles in the US you may find of interest and can perhaps find more info on.
